Final Design

The selected final design was inspired by the traditional wheelchair. We have done innovation on the wheelchair; the wheelchair is similarly like electric wheelchair. The mechanism of standing of the wheelchair was powered by two linear actuator and two motor was used to recline the backrest and footrest of the wheelchair.

For safety purpose the wheelchair was equipped by two seat belt on the seat and on the footrest. The belt main role is to avoid the user from falling during the standing position, The material used for the belt must be strong and durable.

To power all the electrical component the source of power is battery because it is the most suitable due to its portability. The design has some user-friendly value as the user does not need to recline the wheelchair manually.

Alternative Design 1

The picture above illustrates the initial sketch of our design. The idea is the wheelchair will be operated manually but since we need to have motors for the design, so we reject this design.

Alternative Design 2

The second design for the wheelchair. The idea is from electric and powered wheelchair. This design was rejected because the design is too bulky and heavy as we want to create a lightweight wheelchair

Alternative Design 3

The third idea for our design. However, this idea was rejected as it unable to have standing position and not user-friendly. In addition, it also difficult to move on incline surface

The final alternative design. This design is almost similar with the final design. The downside for this design it looks complex and some have more components, which means the price will not be cheap
